Dy Nutrition Renew Whey Protein Concentrate

Dorian Yates’ Whey Protein Concentrate is the highest quality whey protein concentrate available on the market, containing over 21 grams of protein per sachet. Naturally high in BCAAs and glutamine, Dorian Yates’ Whey Protein Concentrate is digested quickly and is ideal post-workout or as a convenient source of protein between meals throughout the day.

A whey protein concentrate such as Dorian Yates’ Whey Protein Concentrate offers some benefits that the likes of a hydrolysate do not, such as the ability to produce health-promoting peptides that stem from interaction with your digestive enzymes and microbes in your digestive tract. These health promoting peptides aren’t produced when denatured protein is consumed (such as in whey protein hydrolysate), and before you worry about denatured protein please note that denatured protein is equally as usable to the body as un-denatured protein, but that’s a side note for now (76). The whey based bioactive proteins include α-lactalbumin, β-lactoglobulin, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, lacto-peroxidase and growth factors, these proteins
exert biological activity that can influence digestive function, utilization of absorbed nutrients, growth and development of organs and disease resistance.

When it comes to purity and nutrient composition, we ensure that we source only the best form of whey protein available, the so-called Native Whey. Native whey protein is produced by the filtration of unprocessed raw milk, which isn’t actually the standard as you might like to think. We know that whey is extracted from milk during the cheesemaking process, from this you can extract whey and casein protein, the whey protein remains liquid during the cheesemaking process whereas casein will precipitate (curdle) resulting in a more complex chemical structure. This structure makes casein protein slower digesting and absorbing compared to whey, which is comparatively quick, hence whey’s historical consumption after a workout and caseins consumption prior to sleep. As it happens, protein is protein and so long as you meet your personal protein requirement alongside an adequate training stimulus and rest, muscle accretion/growth will follow.

Now although ‘protein is protein’, it is wise to remember that not all proteins are created equal, far from it as it happens! Native Whey is considered the ‘Rolls Royce’ of whey protein because of its delicate method of extraction involving a filtration process as opposed to the usual cheesemaking process that can expose whey protein to high acidity (usually pH 4.6) and various other forms of processing involving heat and harsh chemicals. Native Whey is deemed more natural and higher in the all-important Leucine providing 2.7g per 20g of protein vs 2.2g in acid or sweet (rennet derived) whey.

Basically, the acid whey made via the cheesemaking process can denature some of the proteins, this means you stand to miss out on the full benefit to be had from the protein (such as those health promoting peptides etc). Considering both heat AND acid denatures protein, any whey that is extracted from milk via the use of acid and heat should be avoided where possible.

Dorian Yates’ Whey Protein Concentrate makes it possible to avoid denatured whey, as well as
the purest form of whey protein concentrate available.
